Update! Aoshi Shinomori and Soujiro Seta to be part of the next Rurouni Kenshin movie!

It's CONFIRMED! Aoshi Shinomori and Soujiro Seta to be part of the next Rurouni Kenshin movie!

And the screams and squeals of fangirls (and fanboys) can be heard from far and wide as two of the most popular (bida/kontrabida) grey-shaded characters have been confirmed to be part of the next two installments of the live action version of Rurouni Kenshin. It doesn't hurt that they are both pleasing to the eyes (and to look at) as well :P

Aoshi Shinomori is the leader of the Oni Gang (Oniwabanshu) it would be interesting to note how they would include his character in the story when they had to take out the character and the Oniwabanshu story line in the first movie.

In the anime, Aoshi Shinomori and the Oniwabanshu were hired as bodyguards of sorts of the crazed Opium dealer and Antagonist Takeda Kanyruu. In the movie, there were other characters who took this assignment.

TRIVIA: Did you know that creator Nobuhiro Watsuki was inspired with Jubilee's (from the X-Men) trench coat and you can find that inspiration on Aoshi. I have to say that Aoshi wears it better :)

Soujiro Seta is the protegee of main Antagonist and scary bad guy Shishio Makoto it has been confirmed that Fujiwara Tatsuya (Death Note, Battle Royale) will play the role of Shishio Makoto, see my blog post on that update here. Shishio Makoto and adopts him and trains him to become a deadly and quick on his feet (pun intended) swordsman.

Our hero, Kenshin Himura battles both Aoshi and Soujiro in long jaw dropping, edge of your seats fights in the series. I'm hoping that they translate this in the movie and I can't wait to watch them on the big screen. While there is still no news of who will be playing the roles, director Otomo Keishi and the production team has done great work (so far) with the casting of the characters.

It has also been confirmed that the following will be reprising their roles from the first movie:

Takemi Emi as Kamiya Kaoru
Aoi Yu as Takani Megumi
Aoki Munetaka as Sagara Sanosuke
Eguchi Yosuke as Saito Hajime

Filming will mainly be held in the suburbs of Kanto and Kyoto. Lead Actor Takeru Sato (Kenshin Himura) is currently undergoing sword and horseback riding training.

There will be two sequels next year, focusing on the Kyoto Arc. The first sequel will be entitled 'Kyoto Taika-hen' (first part) and the next is 'Densetsu no Saigo-hen' (Legendary Last part). Both films will be released successively.

While news and updates on the progress of the films will surely be flowing in, fans can just wait in anticipation. I haven't even watched the live action of Death Note and Battle Royale. I might just take time to watch the films just to check out Fujiwara Tatsuya's acting prowess.

The sequel to 2012's Rurouni Kenshin is slated for a 2014 Summer release.
