Scream and Laugh with Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse

In the past few years we have seen zombies make their way to every kind and form of entertainment. I myself have just recently experienced the thrills and chills of "The Walking Dead" Haunted Horror House in Eastwood; which is a carnival style Horror House based on the widely popular AMC TV Series which is in turn based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman.

There has also been a number of different zombie movies recently, from the zombie-comedy "Zombieland", the suspense and heart-stopping "World War Z" based on the book of the same name (loved the movie, hated the book)  and even the Young Adult Romantic Zombie Movie "Warm Bodies" (loved the book, the movie was okay). There is even a new zombie movie genre out there-Zombie Classic with  the upcoming "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies"  movie adaptation from yes-the classic Jane Austen novel (with a twist of zombies - obviously, I haven't read the book yet - would you recommend it?)

Now that there has been many different zombie movies how is Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse any different?

Well let's just say that the film pushes the envelope when it comes to its innuendo filled scenes (you do have three young teenagers as leads in the film - so yeah, boys will be boys). The film has some of the most disturbingly hilarious scenes that I still can't shake off my system, days after seeing the movie. It's gross but it's funny - like, really funny.

"Scouts-" follows many themes from teen movies such as first love, friendship and the ever cruel 'teenage caste system'. Yet these themes do not overpower the Zombie content in the film- which is good actually, so you don't feel it being shoved down your throat.

The movie is the kind that you sit through just to enjoy and to laugh throughout. No need to think about values and having a moral compass at the time of an apocalypse. If you can't laugh out loud for your Monday TV Zombie fix then Scouts - is for you.

Directed by Chris Landon,, the film follows the story of three scouts and lifelong friends who join forces with one badass cocktail waitress to become the world's most unlikely team of heroes. When their peaceful town is ravaged by a zombie invasion- they'll put their scouting skills to the test to save mankind from the undead.

The movie stars Tye Sheridan, David Koechner, Cloris Leachman, Halston Sage, Logan Miller, Joey Morgan, Sarah Dumont and Patrick Schwarzenegger.

The movie is rated R-16 which means that there will no cuts or blurs whatsoever and you can enjoy it for all its exploding guts and glory which is a must for any good zombie flick.

Now showing in Philippine theaters, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.
