DEADPOOL Is The Superhero Movie Your Mama Didn't Want You To See

In the past two decades or so, Superhero movies have been a regular in the cinems and when I say 'regular' I mean there is one showing every 3 months or so. Said movie will then dictate what every other kid will be wearing on Halloween and what every party theme will be in the next few months.

Having said this, a formula in these Superhero movies has been created and has the. Subjected these family movies to be the go-to family movie dates whenever they are showing.

Now, I want you to take everything you know about Superhero movies and I want you to throw it out the window, because Deadpool is the Superhero movie your Mama didn't want you to see.

Putting the 'all caps' in ANTI-HERO, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) is a former Special Forces Operative turned mercenary who has a soft spot for 'the little guy'. Boy (Wade) meets girl (did I forget to mention that this was also a Love Story) or in this case his 'calendar girl' Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) and they are perfect for each other, but life always has a way of screwing things up and Wade suddenly falls will with Cancer. In a desperate attempt to get cured, Wade joins the same Mutant Program which created Wolverine aaaand we know what happens right?

The program works Wade is cured of his Cancer but unlike Wolverine who gets to keep his handsome rugged features, Wade Wilson becomes horribly disfigured along with having accelerated powers. Wade Wilson adopts the alter ego Deadpool and hunts down his nemesis Ajax, Game of Thrones' Ed Skrein who let's go of his pretty boy locks for a shaved head and villainous role, in the hopes of being restored to his former self.

In his noble quest to save the fair damsel in distress Deadpool seeks out the help of X-Men's Colosus (voiced by Stefan Kapičić) and trainee Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand).

First time Feature Director Tim Miller worked closely with Ryan Reynolds, who also is an Executive Producer in the film, knew what they wanted and brought it the big screen.

DEFINITELY NOT your typical Super Hero Movie - but still is a SUPER Movie. Deadpool charms with it's straight up sarcastic comedy, poking fun at the cliche super hero movies or super heroes in general. The film even makes scathing comments against the very studio who well, finance these films. In the end, despite it's crusade against your typical hero movies, DEADPOOL is by all intents and purposes a LOVE story, tossed in a salad bowl along with sex and violence, (hence the R16 rating) cheesy love songs and golden pop culture references, you WILL laugh, as much as you will flinch.

8.5 out of 10 ⭐️ Deadpool may not have the emotional tug that 'Guardians of the Galaxy' has but it is a welcome and refreshing break from all the "formula superhero movies". It pays tribute to the popularity of geek culture from references to Voltron, Adbenture Time and yes, even Hello Kitty. It's so rich in pop-culture references I want to see it again!!!

It's the type of movie you go and see for a great time with friends or even a Valentines date! Oh! And make sure to stay after for what could probably be the best post-credits surprise!

Deadpool is in cinemas on February 10 and will also be available in IMAX. From 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros. Don't forget to share your Deadpool experience with the #DeadpoolPH
