Movies: “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” Character Posters Roll-Out

The suave, sophisticated and impeccably attired spies are back in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” starring returning cast members Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Hannah Alstrőm, Sophie Cookson joined by new cast that includes Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, Julianne Moore and Elton John.

The concept for Kingsman was born when Vaughn was working with Mark Millar, the comic book author, on set for “Kick-Ass” back in 2009. Both huge James Bond fans, they came up with the idea about an elite spy that resulted in the franchise’s first worldwide hit.  Kingsman is an elite organization of operatives working outside of the government. Martial in style, they are an altruistic unit that gets things done.

This year’s hotly anticipated sequel, “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” raises the stakes from the worldwide surprise hit original film “Kingsman: The Secret Service” where the spy agency now suffers from a devastating attack that almost killed all of its members.   After the attack, the surviving members of the Kingsman organization forms alliance with their United States counterpart, the Statesman to stop a common enemy.

In “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” Eggsy (Egerton) together with Merlin (Strong) and survivor Harry Hart (Firth) travel to America to meet the Statesman – leader Champagne (Bridges), Tequila (Tatum), Ginger Ale (Berry) and recruit them to help them save the world but the spies have seemingly created an enemy in Poppy (Moore), an charming terrorist who takes pleasure in world domination.

Check out the latest character posters released for “Kingsman: The Golden Circle.”  The movie will open September 20 in (Phils.) cinemas nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.

After a chilling cameo in “The Conjuring,” followed by a starring role in her own film, it became clear to filmmakers that moviegoers were ready to uncover the origins of the doll that has both terrified and captivated them.

So, on the heels of his successful feature directing debut, last summer’s hit “Lights Out,” director David F. Sandberg was tapped to helm “Annabelle: Creation,” the next chapter in James Wan’s “Conjuring” universe produced by Peter Safran and Wan.

Movies: Exclusive Art For PH “Cars-ifies” The Iconic Jeepney

Manila, July 28, 2017 – Ever wondered how the Jeepney, a distinctly Pinoy cultural icon, would look like if it were a character in Disney-Pixar’s “Cars” series? Wonder no more.

To celebrate the release of Disney-Pixar’s “Cars 3” (now playing in PH theaters), the studio has revealed an exclusive art for the Philippines featuring the Jeepney as country’s very own “Cars” character!

The exclusive art was drawn by Michael Daley, a story artist at Pixar Animation Studios. For Disney-Pixar’s “Cars 3,” Daley was responsible for visualizing the script into panels of drawings.

It is also worth noting that Disney-Pixar’s “Cars 3” features a team of filmmakers from all over the world, including two hometown heroes from the Philippines, namely Nelson Bohol and Paul Abadilla. Working on the film as Set Designer Artist and Sketch/Envronment Artist, respectively, these hometown heroes are based in San Francisco, California, working alongside the director of Disney-Pixar’s “Cars 3,” Brian Fee.

Michael Daley joined Pixar Animation Studios in November of 2014. He began as a story artist on Disney-Pixar’s “Cars 3,” and is currently working on upcoming Pixar projects in development.

As a story artist, Daley helps create the initial visuals, or the blue print, of the film. The story artist’s simply drawn rough version of the movie work as a foundation to build the computer graphics and bring the story to life.

Australian model-turned-actor Ryan Cooper stars as a male stripper who's accidental death leads to unforgettable bachelortte weekend in Columbia Pictures' new adult comedy Rough Night (in Philippine cinemas August 9, 2017).

The unsung hero of the film is actor Ryan Cooper, who plays Jay. “This was one of the hardest roles to cast because we had to find somebody who was willing to play a dead person,” says co-star and producer Paul W. Downs. “There is only one scene with dialogue and then he plays a dead person for the rest of the film, but he's also a huge piece of the movie. We are so lucky that we found Ryan because he's physically gifted, funny, but also he let himself go through torture. He was thrown out of cars, put into the ocean, stuffed into things that he shouldn't have been stuffed into. He did an incredible job of playing dead.”

Movies: Ansel Elgort, Awkward Hotshot Behind The Wheel In “Baby Driver”

Ansel Elgort has quickly amassed an impressive body of work in a very short amount of time as both an accomplished actor (The Fault in Our Stars, Divergent series) and musician. Now, he breaks from the pack as he plays the title role of Columbia Pictures’ U.S. No.1 box-office hit heist thriller Baby Driver (in Philippine cinemas August 02).

Cool but a little naive. Young but with an old soul. goofy at times, but all business when it counts. Thrillingly good at his given task, but not always aware of the consequences of what he does. That’s Baby, a character writer-director Edgar Wright created as a way for moviegoers to live vicariously through a criminal, but also experience the very real fallout of that world.

The Baby we meet at the beginning of the movie – hidden behind sunglasses, dialed in to his iPod playlist, then a hellion at the wheel – is like the greatest gang apprentice ever. “This kid’s a hotshot, but he’s also on the fringes of the gang,” says Wright. “He literally sits as far away from them as he can, because he really doesn’t want to be part of the group. He thinks, wrongly, that he can be a getaway driver but not be a criminal Like, ‘I’m just the courier. I don’t have anything to do with the bad stuff.’ The action scenes are kind of like Baby’s day job, and I think a lot of people that work in a job sometimes shield themselves in a different persona. Then when they’re home, they’re a different person.”

In addition to being an excellent space agent, of course.

When Laureline is abducted by the twisted Emperor Boulan Bathor III, Valerian must venture into the red-light district known as Pleasure Alley in search of information and uneasy allies. “Bolton is the man responsible for organizing the logistics of boats and ships coming to the mole, where boats can moor, collect their soldier passengers and then move off,” Branagh says. “And there is a necessity for that to happen swiftly, with maximum efficiency, because they’re being fired at. Movies: When pain demands to be felt

By Macky Macarayan

Since its Manila premiere in 2016, during the World Premieres Film Festival, where it bagged the Special Festival Prize for its Universal Social Values and the Best Actress award for June Lojong, "Beautiful Pain" (originally titled "Redha") has since traveled the world, eventually being Malaysia's official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards.

The film is a family drama that deals with the subject of autism, and tells the struggles of Alina (Lojong) and Razlan (Namron), as they come to terms with the discovery that their son Danial has autism (played by two young actors Harith Haziq and Izzy Reef). Marking her directorial debut, Malaysian filmmaker Tunku Mona Riza attacks the subject of autism with empathy, bringing to light a mental issue that is commonly misunderstood.

As "Beautiful Pain" returns to the Philippines for its theatrical run, PLM Film Society spoke with Tunku Mona Riza to know more about the film, and the journey it has taken so far.

PLM Film Society: What inspired you to tackle the subject of autism for your film?

Tunku Mona Riza: From a lengthy chat I had with a couple (who are my friends), whose daughter was diagnosed with autism. I knew them for a long time yet I don't know much about their struggle. My friend always says "if you don't live with one, you will never know." She is absolutely right.
