Movies: “An Inconvenient Sequel” Opens Exclusively At Trinoma, Glorietta 4 Aug 30

Paramount Pictures’ An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power – the sequel to the Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth – will be shown exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas (Trinoma & Glorietta 4) starting August 30, 2017.

Former US Vice President Al Gore continues his tireless fight, traveling around the world – including the Haiyan-devastated city of Tacloban, Leyte in the Philippines -- training an army of climate champions and influencing international climate policy. Cameras follow him behind the scenes – in moments both private and public, funny and poignant -- as he pursues the inspirational idea that while the stakes have never been higher, the perils of climate change can be overcome with human ingenuity and passion.

In 2006, when Vice President Al Gore became the focal point of An Inconvenient Truth, he was the quintessential man at a crossroads. Needing to move forward meaningfully, Gore exited the political stage and followed his gut and his heart into uncharted territory. He threw everything he had – all his energy, intellect, drive and voice -- into one almost overwhelmingly huge issue that had long lit a fire within him: confronting the increasingly alarming prospect of a global climate crisis that could literally threaten the end of human civilization.

Movies: Filmmakers Discuss What Makes “Patay Na Si Hesus” So Alive

No one gets crucified in the new satirical comedy “Patay na si Hesus.” Well, no one or nothing except Pinoy cinema's tired cliches, our outdated biases, predictable expectations and actors' over-the-top performances.

The latter gets skewered by the cast's purposely deadpan dialogue delivery – led by the effortless Jaclyn Jose – rendering punchlines funnier, the stabs more razor-sharp.  Did we mention that most of the lines are in Cebuano? How more eccentric can this film get?

“Patay na si Hesus,” which opens in Philippine cinemas August 16 as part of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, is a quirky look at a family's roadtrip from Cebu to Dumaguete, en route to the wake of its estranged father, the titular Hesus.

Movies: Ayala Malls Cinemas’ Exclusive “A Family Man” Is A Timely Offering For Families On Aug. 23

Action and blockbuster star Gerard Butler stars in his latest passion project “A Family Man” that tackles the under-explored world of corporate headhunting with characters confronting relatable and universal challenges: “the balance between work and family, husband and wife dynamics, the father and son relationship, losing a job and finding a job.”

Opening exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas’ Trinoma and Greenbelt 1 screens starting August 23, “A Family Man” is a family drama that deals with real-life dilemmas. A simple, elegant and classic throwback movie about a deeply touching father and son relationship.

Dane’s (Butler) journey is predominantly framed through his relationship with Ryan, which is constantly transforming over the course of the film. Producer Craig Flores described the wide search that went into Ryan’s casting: “We reviewed hundreds of self-tapes and auditions from all around the world to find the right kid. Very tough decisions were made, but we ultimately discovered that Max Jenkins was born to play the role.”

Movies: T.J. Miller, Voice Of Emoji With Every Expression In “The Emoji Movie”

In Textopolis, every face emoji has one expression and one expression only. But Gene doesn’t have just one expression, he has EVERY expression! He has no filter for his emotions – if he feels it, he shows it, in Sony Pictures Animation’s new comedy The Emoji Movie.

Funny, charming, awkward, and optimistic, Gene wishes he wasn’t so different. Determined to fit in and make his parents proud, he sets off on a dangerous trek through the world of the phone to change himself into a single-expression emoji. But what Gene discovers on the journey is that embracing his self-expression is the more powerful option…

The role is played by T.J. Miller (Big Hero 6, Deadpool). “This character was created with T.J. Miller in mind,” says director Tony Leondis. “He’s so ebullient, so expressive, so full of life – he can’t be held back. He’s a time bomb of energy, excitement, laughter and emotions. He wears his heart on his sleeve – he’s one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. He enjoys life and people – and that’s how I see Gene, a kind and expressive person.”

Movies: Meet The Boy Crucial To The Battle For "The Dark Tower”

Between the battling forces of the gunslinger (Idris Elba) and the man in black (Matthew McConaughey) comes Jake (Tom Taylor), a young boy from our world who could tip the balance either way, in Columbia Pictures' new action thriller The Dark Tower (in Philippine cinemas August 30, 2017).

Fourteen-year-old Jake lives an ordinary life in New York City with his mother Laurie (Katheryn Winnick) and stepfather Lon (Nicholas Pauling). Plagued by outlandish dreams that he doesn’t understand, he draws detailed sketches of otherworldly images which he sees: the Gunslinger, the Man in Black, and the unearthly world in which they live – Mid-World, in which he gets sight of the Tower.

“In many ways, the story is seen through Jake’s eyes, and we’re seeing it in a compelling way because we believe, as he believes, that he might be crazy,” says producer Erica Huggins. “It’s a terrifying journey that we take with him in the first part of the movie until he realizes that he’s not crazy, he really is seeing this other world, and he’s part of something bigger than himself. To portray that, [director] Nikolaj Arcel was looking for a real kid who you knew would be inspired by these fantastical events. Tom Taylor is an amazing actor, but the element that set him apart was that he came to it with a certain amount of purity.”
