Movies: Dylan O’Brien Stars As Latest Breed Of Hitman-Hero In “American Assassin”

A one-of-a-kind American assassin possessed of savage skills and a ferocious drive for payback is born in this non-stop action-espionage thriller “American Assassin” starring Dylan O’Brien (Maze Runner franchise) in the title role.  Rooted in the raw reality of today’s hard-to-detect enemies invisible black ops, high-level surveillance, portable nukes and murky agendas, the movie is athe story of a 21st Century counterterrorist spymaster-in-the-making who, in a world of new rules, breaks all the old molds.

Based on the mega-bestselling book series by the late Vince Flynn, “American Assassin” introduces
film audiences to one of contemporary fiction’s most popular heroes working in the shadows: CIA super-agent Mitch Rapp. When Rapp’s promising future is torn apart by a shocking burst of violence, it ignites his career as a clandestine warrior on the frontlines of the Age of Terror. Now he must discover how to turn his blistering rage into fuel for hunting those who would destroy others’ dreams – in a world where clarity isn’t easy to come by.

Movies: Mind-Bending And Thrilling Supernatural Movie “The Vault” Opens Sept. 6

An interesting fusion of action and the supernatural comes alive in “The Vault” where the audience will be taken into a thrilling hell ride -hardcore, horrifying, and heartbreaking – driven by a bank robbery, vengeful ghosts and three siblings who must learn to trust each other or die.

Starring multi-faceted James Franco along with Clint’s daughter, fast-rising star Francesca Eastwood and Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black” star Taryn Manning, “The Vault” is set in modern day – inside a timeworn bank in a small, forgotten, working-class city. It could be any city. The building is a relic from another time – a time of opulence that allowed for marble floors and lofted ceilings – like a cathedral designed for the worship of wealth and yet haunted by the victims of that same materialism. At its heart, the movie is a loyalty play. Three estranged siblings are caught in a desperate situation that forces the resolution of life-long conflicts. This day will make or break them. It’s love and a family bond versus fear and betrayal, forgiveness versus revenge, trust versus suspicion and this bank is the nightmarish battleground.

“The Vault” demanded vulnerable, truthful performances. This is a nonstop thrill ride. It opens with a gritty, heart-pounding bank heist. And as the siblings head for the underground vault, the story quickly ramps to a fast-paced, psychotic trip into darkness. It’s also a real pressure cooker, as most of the movie is tightly contained inside the Century Trust Bank itself and especially the dark, terrifying, labyrinthine basement below. The stakes couldn’t be higher. That containment – that claustrophobia – is key to a terrifying experience and will drive almost ever creative decision. When the violence does it, it will not be stylised or celebratory, it will be realistic and brutal. It will hurt,” shares director Dan Bush.
“The Vault” goes beyond the typical bank heist story and gives audiences a run for their lives. Director Dan Bush pegs it as “The Town” meets “The Grudge”.

The film co-stars Q’orianka Kilncher (Sky, Hostiles), Clifton Collins Jr. (Pacific Rim), and Michael Milford (Deserted, Adolescence).

“The Vault is set to hit cinemas nationwide on September 6 and is distributed by Axinite Digicinema.

Richie Tozier is a motor-mouthed jokester peering out from behind Coke-bottle glasses. Wolfhard says, “Richie is sort of a goofball, who loves videogames and television, which is something we share. He tries to be the entertainer of the group, except no one thinks he’s as funny as he thinks he is. They get annoyed with him and just brush him off. After Georgie goes missing, things start getting more serious and Richie begins to realize that something is very wrong in Derry…something he can’t laugh off.”

Movies: Filmmakers Discuss What Makes “Patay Na Si Hesus” So Alive

No one gets crucified in the new satirical comedy “Patay na si Hesus.” Well, no one or nothing except Pinoy cinema's tired cliches, our outdated biases, predictable expectations and actors' over-the-top performances.

The latter gets skewered by the cast's purposely deadpan dialogue delivery – led by the effortless Jaclyn Jose – rendering punchlines funnier, the stabs more razor-sharp.  Did we mention that most of the lines are in Cebuano? How more eccentric can this film get?

“Patay na si Hesus,” which opens in Philippine cinemas August 16 as part of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, is a quirky look at a family's roadtrip from Cebu to Dumaguete, en route to the wake of its estranged father, the titular Hesus.

Producer Craig Flores described the wide search that went into Ryan’s casting: “We reviewed hundreds of self-tapes and auditions from all around the world to find the right kid. Very tough decisions were made, but we ultimately discovered that Max Jenkins was born to play the role.”

In Textopolis, every face emoji has one expression and one expression only. But Gene doesn’t have just one expression, he has EVERY expression! He has no filter for his emotions – if he feels it, he shows it, in Sony Pictures Animation’s new comedy The Emoji Movie.

Movies: Meet The Boy Crucial To The Battle For "The Dark Tower”

Between the battling forces of the gunslinger (Idris Elba) and the man in black (Matthew McConaughey) comes Jake (Tom Taylor), a young boy from our world who could tip the balance either way, in Columbia Pictures' new action thriller The Dark Tower (in Philippine cinemas August 30, 2017).

Fourteen-year-old Jake lives an ordinary life in New York City with his mother Laurie (Katheryn Winnick) and stepfather Lon (Nicholas Pauling). Plagued by outlandish dreams that he doesn’t understand, he draws detailed sketches of otherworldly images which he sees: the Gunslinger, the Man in Black, and the unearthly world in which they live – Mid-World, in which he gets sight of the Tower.

“In many ways, the story is seen through Jake’s eyes, and we’re seeing it in a compelling way because we believe, as he believes, that he might be crazy,” says producer Erica Huggins. “It’s a terrifying journey that we take with him in the first part of the movie until he realizes that he’s not crazy, he really is seeing this other world, and he’s part of something bigger than himself. To portray that, [director] Nikolaj Arcel was looking for a real kid who you knew would be inspired by these fantastical events. Tom Taylor is an amazing actor, but the element that set him apart was that he came to it with a certain amount of purity.”
