Foo Fighters Night

Front and Center: Danita Paner of Ferown

It was as if a foreshadowing took place at that moment when Monty Macalinao with Circa's cover of 'Best of You' by the Foo Fighters blared loud and proud during Paramore Night IV - it was just about time that 'Foo Fighters Night' would come along and this was definitely Paul's kind of 'band night'.

Pinasikat.com which aims to be the central digital hub in the Philippines through video productions organized 'Foo Fighters Night' last April 27, 2013 at Route 196 in Katipunan where in local bands get to cover well loved Foo Fighters classics and also get to play current and new original music from them.

Here are the bands who performed for Foo Fighters Night:
Luigi d' Avola

Classic. Luigi d' Aviola

Em Tolentino of Circa
Whether it's Paramore Night or Foo Fighters Night - Circa can definitely make waves-we are big fans of Circa and we were also lucky enough to also get to hear their new song 'Tonight' which I really liked and I'm just excited to hear a studio version of it. :)

Mmmmmmwwaaah! A kiss from Danita Paner of Ferown

Next up was Ferown which showed that you can look good and sound good as well-as sexy vocalist and front woman Danita Paner mixed her feminine strengths with her vocal prowess.

It was also a relief to see the band have fun especially with their hilarious drummer Raffy Bonifacio who could have easily been a comedian with his antics, just goes to show that you can also have fun while playing music.

Rocking out with Monty Macalinao of Mayonnaise.
Unfortunately I had to rush to work (yet again- missing out on Mayonnaise!) but Paul stayed behind to continue on taking photos and keep make mental notes for the blog post.
Mid Sway - Monty Macalinao of Mayonnaise.
Paul says he was simply blown away with Mayonnaise's all 'Foo Fighters' line up which is not a surprise as I recall Kuya Monty tweet that Dave Grohl is really his 'peg' and he really gave that statement justice as they gave a brutal - (really good) performance of 'Best of You' and 'The Pretender' - among others.

The next band Frio covered 'Learn to Fly' and performed a number of original songs.

Frio

Jio Clavano of Pitik
The band Pitik was clearly influenced by Def Tones, you can hear the influences which was a hard hitting, voice breaking blast of sound. Paul has given his seal of approval for this band - and he rarely does that.
Blues. Jio Clavano of Pitik

Under the spotlight. Jio Clavano of Pitik

Argee Guerrero of Tonight We Sleep
Tonight we sleep - played original songs, with such heavy bass playing with a bit of Punk influence.
Serve the Queen
Serve the Queen  had a smooth jazzy feel, it's like drinking a light beer straight, then swallowing a big ice of distorted alternative pop rock music - if that makes any sense. (Paul's words) I would never use alcohol to describe a musical style.
At a glance. Serve the Queen

It's always a great feeling to discover local talented acts through music we love and as we continue with our part to promoting OPM, Paul and I only hope to make a difference, no matter how small- through his photos and through my words we can only do so much since music should really be experienced by all senses.

Here's to hoping that you click the band name, check out their Facebook page, listen to a few songs and that might be good enough for you to catch them live in a bar someday and if that happens then Paul and I will be very happy.
