Update! Fujiwara Tatsuya cast as Shishio Makoto for live action Rurouni Kenshin movies in 2014

Fujiwara Tatsuya as the maniacal Shishio Makoto for the upcoming Rurouni Kenshin Live Action Movies for 2014.

More news on the Rurouni Kenshin casting front - Actor Fujiwara Tatsuya whose credentials include Battle Royale and Death Note has just been cast as the maniacal and (most probably) Kenshin's arch nemesis Shishio Makoto.

It's interesting to note that I have just aired the question of who will play Shishio Makoto in my previous post and viola! There's already an update! While I imagined an older, veteran actor would play this role I have yet to see Tatsuya in any of his previous works so let's give him a chance. We also have to remember thought that Shishio is actually the successor of Kenshin in being the hitokiri (manslayer) so perhaps they would be close in age - somewhat.

Fujiwara Tatsuya will have some pretty big shoes to fill (With scourged feet at that!) Shishio Makoto is one bad ass antagonist- probably the most bad ass in the Rurouni Kenshin series, he would easily take the Number 1 spot in any Baddest Bad Guy List- so yeah really big shoes to fill. Watching the original series way back - my siblings and I would always imitate Shishio's throaty hoarse voice and we couldn't get over his zombie-chomp when he did a Mike Tyson on Kenshin and bit him during their legendary fight - I wonder if they will be bringing that in the movie? 

There will definitely be a lot of work when it comes to the costume and make-up to make Fujiwara Tatsuya look like Shishio, the burned skin and the bandages. So far the movie has had a pretty solid anime to movie adaptation of the characters hopefully they can bring this with them to the next two movies - especially with Shishio! This is a very crucial character so they had better get it right!  

Ruruoni Kenshin will be having two movies for 2014 which will be focusing on the Kyoto Arc - Shishio is the main antogonist in this arc. 

The legendary fire filled fight between Shishio Makoto and Kenshin - can't wait to see this on the big screen!
