Pinto Art Gallery

So after our Kampaii SushiBar escapade Paul and I headed to Pinto Art Gallery, another jewel in our hometown of Antipolo, another 10 minute trip from our house.

Paul has actually been urging me to go to the Gallery with him, I have actually been there years back so I wasn't really jumping on going but since Typhoon Mario foiled our original plans I just went along with Paul's suggestion (we weren't going anywhere with the flood).

The gallery is inside one of the many villages in Antipolo, there's a small sign outside and enough signs along the way, so you wouldn't get lost. People around the place know where the gallery is so you can easily ask around if ever you do get lost.

We were surprised when we arrived at the gallery, since there were a lot of parked cars outside, I was actually not expecting that there were going to be a lot of guests. It's either they were probably herded to go here coz of the floods or the Gallery does get a lot of visitors, which is good at least people aren't walking around malls having their money siphoned to consumerism and capitalism.

The guests were couples like us, some with their smart phones on mono pod sticks for selfies with paintings no doubt and there were also groups of friends who were at the gallery, hanging out by the Cafe- yes, they have a Cafe! More on that later on.

Pinto Art Gallery is not your typical Gallery, a building or a room with paintings and sculptures, it is on a large property and the artworks are housed in separate buildings, some even having their own structure made specially for them. There's a lot of walking around and climbing up and down stairs so it's best to leave your high heels and skirts at home. Make sure you come in comfortable shoes and clothes.

By the end of our tour, I was already catching my breath from all the walking and stairs, so I guess it's a good thing that there's a cafe so you can eat, drink and rest mid tour. Just take note though that the Bizu cafe in the Pinto Art Gallery is only open during weekends. They serve pasta, and there's also a three course meal for P549.00, ala carte meals are at P300.00/meal. Drinks are at P95.00 Since Paul and I were still relatively full from our Kampaii stint, we just had Molten Lava Cake, Iced Coffee for me and Beer for Paul. We regret not trying their halo-halo which instead of the traditional ingredients is made up of salted caramel :) They should really put Salted Caramel Halo-Halo on their menu.

We'll probably try that next time, along with their 3 course menu. Paul's sister has already told us she'll tag along the next time we go. :) I think that I should also mention that the gallery is only open from Tuesday-Sunday and they close at 5:30 PM.

I remember when I visited the gallery all those years ago, there weren't that many paintings and artworks and it wasn't that big - but now it's huge and so many artworks have been added over the years, a lot of the paintings are even very recent and new. I love how each room had it's own theme, lighting and mood to help bring out the essence in each peace of Art.

I don't think an afternoon is enough to fully enjoy the paintings, sculpture and mixed medium works, there were just so many things to see and immerse yourself into. Will definitely come back and bring friends and family. :)

By the way- in case you guys are wondering, photoshoots like prenup shoots is allowed, for a price though and it's a bit pricey but definitely worth it of course! :)

We're happy to have been able to feature an establishment from our own hometown, no need to go down to the city, with it's pollution and traffic when you have something so beautiful right at your back door - so to speak :) Will try to feature more local places. :)

Since posting this, a lot of people have been asking where Pinto Art Gallery is - so apologies for not including it in the blog post - here's the address:

1 Sierra Madre Grand Heights Antipolo, Rizal

The Pinto Art Gallery is inside a village (Grand Heights) which comes after Ynares Stadium. As I mentioned there is a small sign outside and signs inside the village so you won't get lost and if you do - you can just ask the people :)
