Movie Review: 10 Cloverfield Lane

"Doomsday Movies" have long been around for movie audiences to enjoy. 10 Cloverfield Lane does not necessarily fall under the Doomsday Movies genre as it cleverly creates a niche of it's own; with a compelling and thrilling story, driven by impressive acting from John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

Michelle (Winstead) survives a car accident and finds herself chained in a basement. Howard (Goodman) appears bringing her food and explains that he rescued her and is keeping her alive. He goes on to explain that there has been an 'attack' and that the air outside is contaminated and that everyone is dead.

Michelle is wary of Howard until she meets Emmet, who helped build the bomb shelter they're occupying. Everything is going well, with the three passing the time by reading, watching movies and playing board games in Howard's well stocked fall out shelter. He really took time and made a lot lf effort to prepare the well stocked shelter.

Yet, before long, secrets emerge and Michelle becomes more determined to escape. She will learn that "Monsters do come in many forms".

10 Cloverfield Lane is the blood relative of the 2007 hit movie, Cloverfield but takes on a story of its own. As an audience member, it is an experience best felt inside the cinema. Where a crowd of strangers can scream and shout at the same time, from the thrilling, suspense-filled scenes to the sudden deafening, isolation of sounds, which heightens your viewing experience.

All the small details in the film, culminate to a seamless, unpredictable story, which was cleverly kept under wraps, to preserve a heart racing and utterly terrifying movie experience. See it with friends or on a date, you will surely have a good time.

Critics are already buzzing over John Goodman's memorable performance of a determined Doomsday prepper, bent on keeping his 'guests' controlled. He seems like everybody's favorite Uncle, but in this film, he is anything but Uncle material but the stuff of nightmares.

Dan Trachtenberg directs “10 Cloverfield Lane” from a screenplay by Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken. Produced by J.J. Abrams.

It's a PERFECT 10 for 10 Cloverfield Lane! I loved the movie and would love to watch it again!

Opening across the Philippines on April 06, “10 Cloverfield Lane” is distributed by United International Pictures through Columbia Pictures.
