RDOT Jam Session Part 2

It is already considered the norm to go out and have a little fun after a long day in the office preferably on a Friday night. But what about those of us who work in the BPO industry? We literally are like vampires who come out in the night and sleep during the day.

So how and where do we get to unwind and have a good time after work? Our typical after work scenario is catching breakfast at Mc Donald's and that's not weird at all.

So imagine a gathering of Call Center bands for Call Center people-aptly dubbed as RDOT Jam. Which happens in the morning. Yup! In the morning when the sun is out, these guys are playing the drums and are on the guitars.

RDOT stands for Rest Day Over Time and this is probably the best Rest Day Over Time that these guys have ever been on since they get to be rock stars for a day.

Organized by Nic Rasta, this was already an old project before known as 'After shift' which went away after a while, so he brought back the concept of having gigs in the morning featuring bands of different genres.

They were able to have the first event in January and will be having events every month.

The event was spread through word of mouth and Facebook has been a big help as well with spreading the word. Despite having so many different Call Centers the industry is still a pretty small one where people know people and pretty soon a lot of bands from Call Centers were already asking to be placed in the line up.

Nic sees the future of the gigs as to evolving into bigger events. There are a number of upcoming events for April. Proceeds of the events will be going to various groups such as a group in UP that teaches children. Another event in April sees to promote nature through music and awareness, proceeds of which will go to a mountaineering club. If you are interested to take part in the festivities just get in touch with Nic.

Nic is the brains of the production and has help from friends and other office mates, he is currently forming a core group for RDOT.

Aside from Call Center bands, Nic is looking to invite other guest bands to perform in the gigs.

Unfortunately Paul had work that day so we were only able to stay up until the 4th or the 5th band. Paul was having such a great time shooting I literally had to drag him out so he won't be late for work -which he was, by the way.

We are really excited for this project and hope to be part of more RDOT Jam sessions and we do wish for the success of the production- after all these guys are with us in the daily and mundane grind of the BPO industry and it's fun to see them let loose and play music.

I almost forgot to say that the bands are really good also. ^_^

*So sorry we weren't able to get the names of the bands who performed, if your band has photos here feel free to contact us and tell us your band's name so we can caption the photos properly. Thanks :)
