PJ's Christening and First Birthday
While we love shooting and covering events in our hometown of Antipolo, driving to Manila is always a refreshing change, especially when we get to cover a lifetime event at the University of Santo Thomas church no less!
Which is why we were thrilled to cover Pj's Christening and First Birthday party. Aside from Pj, being a totally cute baby, it was overwhelming to see this little bundle of joy be surrounded by family and friends who love him dearly.
Needless to say the kid has some awesome Baptism photos he can bring to school one day!
After his Christening, the reception was also his first birthday celebration and he left his white baptism clothes and appeared in a full F1 Racer getup! To match his 'Cars' theme of course!
Perfect for a little boy's first birthday party! Kudos to Mommy Pebbles for taking care of all the little details! :)
Thank you for having PCheng Photography cover these milestones in your life Pj! :)

Kevin + Aimee
Before heading out to 19 East for Tricot's day after Christmas show, we actually covered a wedding!
Yes- a wedding after Christmas! And despite, being sick (me) and basically being worn out from the holidays, it was a beautiful wedding. :)
You might have already read this but Aimee is my College friend and we were really happy when she (along with Kevin) as us to shoot their Prenup and of course, their wedding.
The wedding, much like their Prenup was well thought of and thanks to the support of their loving and imaginative family, also had the same well thought out details that really make a difference. From the simple rustic touches to the baby's breath flowers that seemed to be everywhere, it was a beautiful and simple celebration.
The bride glowed underneath her veil (and I'm not just saying this because she's my friend) and the groom was dashing behind his trusty motorcycle, a staple in Taytay.

Team PCheng 2014 Recap: A look back at the year that was
2014 was a big year for us. We had big projects and arguably more projects that we ever had and we're very grateful for that- it just shows that all our hard work is finally paying off. Aside from the increase in projects we also got new equipment to help us with all the Team PCheng work, until recently Paul and I would have to share with my old HP laptop when working on photos for him and writing blog posts for me. Now this old HP laptop, is really old and really slow, we suspect some hardware problem with the heat sync or the cooling pad, or the thermal paste with the processor, something like that (I won't pretend to know what I'm talking about-because I don't). Basically the laptop overheats so much that it's so slow we have to put electric fans in front of it just so we can (barely) use it. But last August 2014 I won a freaking iPad mini! (Thank you Sky Cable! ^_^)
Julz Savard of Save Me Hollywood opening for Red Jumpsuit Apparatus in March at Eastwood City.
The plan is to have the laptop fixed - you know just in case we need to bring work with us or maybe travel and work at the same time or have work as travel (any excuse just to travel, because we're not just a couple of nerds who like to stay at home to watch movies and DVDs, we like to travel too! And my wish for 2015 is to get to travel more :p Even if it means bringing work along-we do 't mind).
So going back to the recap - Paul and I had to take turns using the really slow laptop, so having the iPad, I got to do blogging and some social media managing on the tablet while Paul worked on photos on the laptop. Before the year ended though we were finally able to get a new PC (thanks to our 13th month pay) and so even if it's not the PC specs that Paul would have liked it definitely has made things faster for us. It's really important for me to mention this upgrade as I am eternally grateful for it, especially when I think about how we would have to take turns with the old laptop before but now we each can get some work done at a faster and more efficient speed. Definitely a big highlight for our 2014! ^_^
We were tapped by Tokyo Bubble Tea to feature their new Milo Series of Drinks as well as other yummy food - hoping to get to blog more about food this year - gotta watch the waist line though! :P
Although we, for some reason covered less music shows, concerts and gigs for this year (blame our ugly schedule, which aside from night shifts also meant working on weekends) we got to have a wider scope of things to cover and blog about. For one, it was our first year to be part of Nuffnang which meant more blogging opportunities for us. We got to attend a couple of blocked screenings and win and enjoy prizes - remember all those Cadbury chocolate?! Yup- all thanks to Nuffnang! Definitely looking forward to more blogging opportunities with them and maybe win even bigger prizes in 2015.
And as if we were cementing our foot hold in the blogging community, it was also our first time to attend Blogapalooza - we had fun even if we were dead tired since once again we had to come from work :p Will definitely attend this year but will make more preparations (file leaves and get enough rest) ^_^
Sealed with a kiss. Our biggest project up to date getting to cover the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Dayanghirang. #DevAndEmEverAfter
Carvings at Pinto Art Gallery in Antipolo.
This 2014 we also got to blog and feature a couple of galleries and attend opening of art exhibits of some artist friends. Hoping to get to do more of that in 2015 ^_^
We also officially became a partner blogger for Amplify.ph :) so even if we haven't been covering as much local gigs as we would have wanted, we got to feature a lot of up and coming local acts on the blog. We even got to meet Iligan based band Loop when they came over to Manila and for us who support local music as much as we do it was really an honor. It was like a culmination of our 2014 support of OPM. While there was a decrease in covering local gigs we got to do more album/EP reviews this year and I'm looking forward to doing more in 2015.

Noticeably we had more projects this year- we have been tapped to cover weddings, birthdays, christening and a couple of team shoots. Even if it meant loosing rest and sleep at times, Paul and I went ahead and pursued these projects. It was an honor being able to capture memories in photos. Throughout 2014, Paul and I also continued on with our crusade to bring printed photos back in this day and age, where everything is digital and every one is just happy uploading everything on social media but Paul believes that photos just shouldn't end on your timeline but should be printed as well. I guess that's just our being 'old' :P For 2015 we will definitely continue on printing photos and sharing that with not only our clients but with people we meet. I'm hoping to get to buy an Instax, so we can have photos printed (through polaroids) right away. Maybe in the future (or in this year) we can include that in our photography packages. ^_^
2014 was a big year for us and as we begin with the first few days of 2015, Paul and I will continue to treat everything as we had like one big misadventure. Thank you for everyone who has been part of our 2014, whether you were a client, a follower or a reader, thank you so much for the support! Hoping that you'll join us for another crazy ride in 2015.

Dev And Em Ever After
We spent our 3rd Wedding Aniversary in a very special way. We had the honor to cover and capture the memories of Dev and Em who we met while covering local gigs, as these two are part of the band Circa :) You should really check out their music (highly recommended ^_^)
More than just making beautiful music together, Em and Dev's love and union is actually 12 years in the making - like wow! How many people do you know that have stayed that long in a relationship right? That's why being able to witness their big day was a really big honor for us, especially since we get to immortalize these memories through our photographs. So even if the third wedding anniversary meant no date and having to work all day - we were more than happy to be behind the lens for their special event.
Leaves for work were long filed, it had to be two days to make sure we were well rested to cover a wedding. Before the actual wedding though, we also shot their engagement shoot (more in the blog here) you might want to check that out too! ^_^
For the actual wedding we were already up by 5:00 AM to make it for our 10:00AM call time at the Vivere Hotel in Alabang. Two thumbs up to this hotel - everything was beautiful! From the lobby, to the rooms and the Function room-everything! A good thing about having your wedding in December? They bring out all the Christmas lights and decor and that adds for an extra 1,000 points in photos and videos :p I decided to have our wedding in December for the lights alone :p
The ceremony was held at St. James The Great Parish in Alabang, it's a really beautiful church but very strict. Paul and I had to attend a Wedding Suppliers' seminar. I kid you not, it was like attending a !arriage seminar but with other wedding photographers, videographers and wedding coordinators. You seem the Church is so beautiful that a lot of people have their wedding there and if you noticed, a lot of weddings nowadays have become some sort of production number with different gimmicks and what not, you know what I mean with the smoke machine, butterflies, song and dance number etc. the seminar is to help ensure that the solemnity of the ceremony is kept in tact, which I can agree to. Having a few do' s and dont's for wedding suppliers and providers is actually not a bad idea. :)
This was also a special wedding for us, since we were also working with our fellow Indie-Media Partner - The His And Her Project who were handling the video documentation of the beautiful wedding. ^_^
All in all the wedding was indeed a beautiful ceremony, everything went smoothly from the start until the end, no running around and confusion and/or chaos that sometimes does happen in weddings :p
When the Bride and her father were having their first dance to the tune of Kermit the Frog's Rainbow Connection, I could feel the year stings in my eyes, and busied myself fixing bags that didn't need fixing :p and can I also say that the Speech of the Bride's mom was soooo beautiful! It really was :)
Definitely a highlight for us this year, we're honored to have been tapped to capture the beautiful moments and memories of the now- Mr. and Mrs. Dayanghirang - Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Team Lexie Photoshoot
Originally our first Team Photoshoot to date - Team Lexie wanted to wait on the tarpaulin of their team (Team of the month gets to have a big a*s tarpaulin of the team's photo printed and hung up on the wall - pretty neat huh?) to be printed first before releasing their photos - hence the late post :)
Our idea was to have their photoshoot outside the Eastwood Mall area but since there was an event going on that day we decided to look for another place to shoot, We really did not have to go far since there was a lot of nooks and crannys around to have a great photoshoot.
It's a good thing that even if there were guards roaming around we were not asked to stop shooting :P Definitely grateful that the security of Eastwood is not that strict when it comes to photographers - unlike in Makati.
Definitely had fun shooting Team Lexie - especially since it was our first Team Photoshoot - lots of swagger for this team and they were really werking it :P

Dev and Em's Prenup BGC Prenup Shoot
Definitely one of the highlights for PCheng Photography this year was being tapped to shoot Em and Dev's Prenup shoot and cover their wedding (which coincidentally is one the same date as ours-3 years ago ^_^)
We met Em and Dev through our coverage of local music and gigs, in case you haven't noticed it yet these two love birds are actually from one of favorite local bands - Circa! So being asked to cover this important day in their lives is definitely a big honor for us,
As if -that was not a big enough project, the actual wedding would fall on our 3rd Wedding Anniversary! So we'd be sharing the same wedding date as them! There must be something about December 10 eh?
As if -that was not a big enough project, the actual wedding would fall on our 3rd Wedding Anniversary! So we'd be sharing the same wedding date as them! There must be something about December 10 eh?
Well before the actual wedding, of course we had to do the prenup shoot which was done around mid-October and through the couple's request we haven't released/posted/blogged about the photos :p
The couple asked us to shoot around BGC and it was a great thing that Sonja's Cupcakes (which is also their Wedding Vendor) allowed for us to invade their store on a Sunday morning- so to speak and and shoot there! ^_^ It was definitely a sweet experience- pun intended! So I would definitely suggest for future brides out there to check their contracts with their vendors or maybe inquire if you can have your engagement photos done at their shop!
It was definitely a good first set during our engagement shoot since Paul is always anxious about shooting in public and getting told off by the guards, remember that this was during the time when the whole Photography Regulations in BGC have not been settled yet but needless to say we weren't scolded by any of the guards (probably because we didn't have a tripod with us) we could have just gotten lucky but I definitely suggest that you guys check out the new BGC Photography Regulations before going out on a shoot :)
We definitely had a fun day at Sonja's cupcakes and shooting around BGC (going on Ninja mode to avoid guards) there are just so many beautiful spots to shoot at and of course Dev and Em were a beautiful couple and were a pleasure to shoot <3
We're really excited for this project, as it is the biggest that we've ever tackled in our humble career and it is with overwhelming gratitude that we take on capturing the memories of one of the most special days in their lives :)
Congratulations guys!

Juami's Christening
![]() |
The Proud Parents with their beautiful dessert set up and cute Juami photos!
Benjo and I go way back, we were actually classmates in the First Grade in Lourdes Mandaluyong, Years late we found out that our office mates/friends in the BPO industry were actually common friends, and so the story goes. He eventually asked me to shoot for Air Asia's Philippine Patriots back in - yes I also used to shoot and cover Basket Ball Games photos here.
So it was really an honor for me to have been asked to cover the Christening of his first born son, Juan Miguel or Juami for short :)
Now this was actually on that Saturday which I have hence forth dubbed as 'Shatter-days' since we came straight from work then attended the Tamron Goes Wild event in Fairview and raced back to Eastwood for the Christening.
So even if I was really tired I still wanted to take good photos of the event, this is after all a once in a lifetime event for little Juami who was so cute and charming, he wasn't crying at all and everyone was cooing at him and his cuteness.
It was nice to see his Grandparents hover over him, and you can see the love overflowing in their eyes, it was especially touching to see Juami hold on to his Lolo's finger.
It was a great gathering of family and friends to celebrate Juami being part of the Christian world.

Team Gian Photoshoot
Paul and I have been working in the BPO Industry for about seven years now and we're excited to be able to add a new service to our line of shoots and that's the Team Photoshoot!
Whether it's because you're the top team for the month or if you just want to have bad ass photos just let us and we can work on a theme and concept. ^_^
Since Christmas is just around the corner a Christmas themed Team Photoshoot would be nice too!

Alex's Christening and First Birthday
We attended a Christening and we weren't the godparents which is different especially since I always make the joke that "We're always the Godparent but never the Parent". Even if we weren't the parents or the Godparents we still had a role to play since we were commissioned to take photos of the event.
We were extra excited for this event since the Christening was going to be at Christ the King Parish in Taytay AKA "Church in the Sky" and a church like that definitely deserves to be visited right? Technically you had to go "up" a road to get to the church, you take a left when you reach Muzon a Elementary school and just go 'up, up'. Once you reach the church it's really beautiful and it really lives up to its name. It was a nice and peaceful church, with it's location away from busy streets and public markets it's really easy to focus and pray without all the distractions.
The Baptism was really well organized, it started on time and went on real smoothly. :)
After the Baptism, guests proceeded to Max's in Taytay for the reception and I just have to go ahead and mention that with the recent renovation of the place, there were more function rooms, we love the ambient light in the room and the set up with the separate tables and chairs.
There was a variety of entertainment for everybody. Funny clowns for the kids but who still catered to the humor of the adults (at the expense of the kids though), a salon for the young girls to get their hair done (along with temporary color, nails painted and they could even have their faces painted. Needless to say the adults enjoyed the salon's services too!

Villamar-Flores Nuptial
I remember when we were preparing for our wedding almost 3 years ago, I went through a LOT of wedding photos and videos and let me tell you that there are a lot of talented Filipino Wedding Photographers out there but Paul is also a very talented and passionate photographer :)
We were fortunate enough to be tapped to cover the wedding of Robert and Meme who I know through her sister, being a former colleague of mine.
It was a beautiful ceremony filled with love from families and friends and between the Bride and Groom of course :)
We're looking forward to getting to cover more weddings and more life events of course! :)
We already have one booked in December! :D #Stoked
Congratulations to the newly weds and thank you for making us a part of your big day! :)

Greenlight Music Fest
Update! As of November 12, 2013 - Three days before the event - In light of the recent events due to the devastation brought about by Typhoon Yolanda, organizers of Greenlight Music fest are currently organizing ways and means so that the festival can also benefit the victims of Typhoon Yolanda. Admission to the event is for free but donations will be accepted in the concert venue. Use the #greenfielddistrict if you want to help.
It's no surprise that music festivals are suddenly popping left and right-after all Filipinos are infamous for loving music and while there have been a number of music festivals featuring international music acts we've had our own share of music festivals featuring our very own talented OPM artists.
And Greenlight Music is not just another music festival but the music festival of the season as it not only features some of the country's leading and up and coming acts but it's also FREE! Yes! Admission is FREE!
All you have to do is show up - gates open at 4:00 PM - show starts at 5:00 PM and you get to enjoy performances from these bands:
Up Dharma Down
Urbandub
Franco
True faith
Taken By Cars
Techy Romantics
Never The Strangers
Madhatter Day
Yolanda Moon
She's Only Sixteen
Save Me Hollywood
Jensen Gomez
RunManila
Reese Lansangan
Earth Mover
Maude
Pulso
Wow! Talk about a great line up of bands! I have a lot of personal favorites in that line up and I can't wait! So stoked! :) Also another reason for the excitement (drum roll please) Pcheng Photography is covering! Wohoooo! :D So expect photos galore and a blog post from us! :)
But wait! There's more!
Aside from the great live music lined up there are also a number of activities that will be made available to attendees such as moving statue, freedom wall and graffiti, Open Skate Jam (so for the skaters out there-bring your boards!) and Bull Ride Rodeo! :)

Kaoru Kamiya Inspired Cosplay Shoot
It's been some time since I shot a cosplay shoot, so when the opportunity presented itself I immediately jumped at it; even if it meant having to wake at a God forsaken hour-for me. I work the night shift so the afternoon is my time to sleep.
Nevertheless when my fellow camera enthusiast Pogs came knocking I got up for a Kaoru Kamiya from Rurouni Kenshin (inspired) cosplay shoot. If you have been following my photos and our posts you would recognize the hill in many of my sunset/sunrise shoots.
From a photography perspective I liked to get the details of the grass, the sunset and of course the model, with this in mind we used the flash Canon 430 EX ii and the light box that we got from YesUSA, the product review of which you can find here think of this as the product review for an outdoor shoot.
So far I find the soft box very useful since it diffuses the light coming from the flash and casts a nice and soft light, it pretty much serves its purpose, the only negative thing about the product is it becomes wobbly when on uneven ground, since we were shooting on a hill this was a challenge.
As for the cosplay aspect of the shoot, Jocelyn Ga was our model we did a Kaoru Kamiya of Rurouni Kenshin inspired cosplay shoot even if in my opinion her features were more of a Megumi Tanaka but that's just the otaku in me.
At first we started slow but we eventually got our momentum and Jocelyn was more confident and relaxed in posing and we were able to direct her. As the sun came down we got our shots and had fun. Hopefully we get more chances to work on cosplay shoots (with other characters and other settings of course we can only use that hill so much) and improve in our craft. If there is anyone who wants to do a cosplay shoot or any shoot just let us know!

Sometimes I ask myself -- ?
Okay - so don't be surprised this is not a blog post on an event, or an announcement or a review of anything. This is just me - Ica - letting some steam off in one of the best ways (aside from music) that I know how - writing and blogging. Maybe I need to do this more often or to the limitations to which I will be entitled to but for whatever reason I hope you guys don't get bored or click close - I guess its time I also gave you some personal thoughts and maybe let you know what's going on in my head. I don't know if its' that time of the month again or I'm just feeling really depressed now - so hope you guys indulge and read through :)
So here goes --
Sometimes I ask myself why Paul and I do what we do? Why we spend our time blogging, covering events and writing reviews, among others. Sometimes I find myself so excited itching to start blogging, with thoughts flying across my head just waiting to get posted online. But I'll admit that there are times when I just want to lay down on bed and not do or think of anything. There are times and there are a lot of them, especially when we don't get the invites or the photo pass that we asked for - and I do ask a lot that I just want to pull my hair out of frustration and eat a pizza, blasting angsty music while I'm at it. The market is so saturated and there are so many people who do what we do - blog, take photos and what not and its' just so frustrating and hard to get a place, to get a spot and to squeeze in. You know - just asking for a chance.
I mean what am I supposed to write about? I can't be a foodie- I am a very picky person when it comes to food, I bet that if you made a list of things that I eat to a list of things I don't eat you would have a longer list for the latter and its' not like we can afford to go to the swankiest of restaurants to try out their food either. Tried my hand in product reviews and make up blogging but that didn't really work out either - for the same reason of not being able to afford to have product haul after product haul of beauty products to review. So Paul and I settled to something that we both love - music and the pop geek culture. While we get invites on events and gigs, there is always that feeling of wanting to do more, as man has been known to feel but not getting the chance and the opportunity to do so. Covering these events means spending money on gas and food - while Paul and I are extremely grateful for the opportunity and the invites presented to us, maybe some people don't realize what it means for us to go on an event especially when we are on critical wallet day and are on a tight budget. Sometimes I ask myself what we get from all of this? I don't know if I'm just having a bad day or if I have a legitimate question. I do appreciate and I am grateful to the wonderful people that we have met while embarking on our adventures and meeting them and supporting music have definitely been one of the better things in these things that we do and spend so much time on.
Paul has been pushing himself with his photography, since he wants to improve and become better but photography is a very expensive hobby and it really does hurt me looking at him becoming frustrated since he wants to improve so bad with his photography and of course that means needing funds for new lenses, a new body and other camera paraphernalia. He goes out every day making sure that he has a photo of the day and he is really pushing himself to learn more and more in photography, reading blogs and watching videos online. I know he wants to be a photographer professionally and that it is his dream - maybe someday we would get to see that dream lived, maybe.

Fall Out Boy Night
If you guys are following the blog or following me on Twitter or are friends with me on Facebook you would probably agree that I have been blogging/posting/tweeting about Fall Out Boy Night for some time already.
While we have covered a number of different 'band nights' or 'specialty nights' as Kuya Monty would put them, Fall Out Boy Night was a bit more special to me since I had a hand in helping organize the event. (Allow me a little 'blow my own horn' moment here :D) I helped a bit with band line up as well as gathering sponsors for the event and even hosted the show. (I did a lot of hosting back in College so it was nice to be able to get to relive that again. :D)
You can check out the original event announcement post by clicking here.

Yuko starting things off with a bang!
Band Nights are always fun because the crowd is just wild! They sing back to the songs that they love and they sing it with such fervor. There's also a lot of clapping, jumping, dancing, slamming - it's just crazy, crazy fun. Even if you come in the bar not knowing the people, you would definitely come out having gained new friends literally partied with people who love the same music as you do.
