My problem with a fifth installment of Ice Age is that the story is only prolonging the inevitable-the extinction of its lead characters. I loved the first movie, when it was just just Manny, Sid and Diego but with the addition of a wife and daughter + a (future) son-in-law for Manny, a girlfriend for Diego and a hilarious and nagging grandmother for Sid plus two annoying weasels -it just suddenly feels crowded.
I know that the writers are trying to feature a family but this one just feels too big for comfort.
Srat and his pursuit of that elusive acorn (which coincidentally results to the conflicts in the movies) is funny for the first few times but four movies later? It has become a joke to long played.
So, with all of these pre-conceived opinions about the film, it comes to no surprise that I wasn't that excited about seeing the fourth installment; Ice Age: Collision Course.
Finding himself aboard a spaceship, Srat unknowingly plays pinball with the universe and unknowingly sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the Ice Age World. In order to save themselves, Manny, Sid, Diego and the rest of herd, set off on a crazy and colorful adventure meeting even crazier characters and if sing themselves in stranger situations. All the while, dealing with some inner conflicts.
