I'm probably not the best person to be doing a review on xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, for one I don't really follow the franchise, and two I'm not really a big fan of Vin Diesel, but if you are looking for high octane - action packed film, then "The Return of Xander Cage" delivers.
Mixing extreme sports with stop-the-bad guys, save-the-world missions. Xander Cage is back in the game after a rogue team of incredibly skilled individuals led by the (very) awesome Donnie Yen, steal "Pandora's Box" a device which can control satellites orbiting the Earth and turning them into instant bombs (you know when they crash into Earth & explode and everything).
Enter Xander Cage to save the day! - With his very own super team of xXx agents.
Although their extreme sports qualifications completely escape me. Ruby Rose is a sniper, Kris Wu is a DJ (?) and the other a crazed driver. Will give props to Ruby Rose on screen - she's total girl crush material. The super team is supported by a super cute and nerdy Nina Dobrev.
Honestly, the ladies seem to be more of eye candy for me than Vin Diesel - hey - different strokes - different folks eh?
So team triple X travel the globe, including what seems to be a stop over in the Philippines (!) to track down Donnie Yen and his super crew.
Impossible yet amazing stunts explode onto the screen. The fight scenes and choreography should get credit as they fuel the adventure with a lot of beautiful people to gawk over. A surprise cameo will have fans thrilled and might mean we can expect more from the franchise in the future.
5/10 - Snowboarding down into traffic and surfing on waves with motorbikes; xXx: The Return of Xander Cage delivers as expected; without really offering anything new but for fans of the genre that's more that enough for a trip to the cinema.
xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is now showing!
