It's a Fun-60's filled vibe with The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

A fresh take on the hit 60's show of the same name, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. is a fast paced ride from start until finish. Set at the height of the Cold War, USA teams up with Russia as CIA agent Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill- Superman in the flesh), is assigned to work with KGB agent Illya Kuryaki (Armie Hammer) to stop an evil from upsetting the already fragile balance of power. 

Paul and I are big history buffs so we loved all the juicy historical references in the film, there is also a lot of post WWII details that get added in the story. 

If you are expected the usual action spy thriller then you will be surprised because The Man From U.N.C.L.E brings one unique element to the usual spy thriller and that is the comedic element which had audiences laughing throughout the film. Solo and Kuryaki try to out-do each other in their spy skills while working together while still keeping one eye open while asleep and the humor that ensues is smart, well thought of and delivered in perfect sync. The chemistry of Cavill and Hammer on screen is undeniable. There are traits about each of their characters that you will love and one thing is for sure they are one dynamic duo that you will love seeing on screen. 

Director Guy Ritchie does good with the 60's vibe which is evident throughout the movie and we're not just talking about the beautiful costumes (look their eye wear) but as well as the color grain used in the film. The music accompanying the film is straight off your dad's record collection, even the font for the subtitle in the film has a strong 60's feel. It really is like traveling back in time to sexy spies, beautiful girls and enigmatic espionage. It's refreshing to see the leads not having the advances in technology which we do now and which we see in many of the modern spy flicks, instead they have to make do with the modern technology of their time but still come out all suave and cool.

Highly recommended for a fun night out with friends or a date night. It's an action-comedy film with a beautiful cast, captivating set pieces and a story that will keep you at the edge of your seat.

Travel back in time with Man from U.N.C.L.E

I've always loved period movies. It's as if you get to travel back in time, we have become so dependent on technology that it's nice to see characters doing things the old school way and The Man From U.N.C.L.E is just that! No high-tech gadgets, just good old stylish spies saving the world from the bad guys.

Boasting of fast paced action and stylish sets (and wonderful wardrobe! Look at those sun glasses!!) Director Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes & Snatch) brings us a fresh take on the hugely popular 1960's TV series- the spy thriller stars Henry Cavill (Man of Steel- yes- it's Superman) as Napoleaon Solo, opposite Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as Illya Kuryakin.

Set in 1960's during the height of the Cold War, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. centers on CIA agent and KGB agent Kuryakin, (so it's basically, USA teaming up with Russai) being forced to work together, (needless to say, they don't like each other) to stop a mysterious international criminal organization which is bent on using nuclear weapons & technology to upset the already fragile balance of power.

The duo's only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is key to infiltrating the criminal organization and they must race against time to find and prevent a worldwide catastrophe. 

“The Man from U.N.C.L.E” also stars Alicia Vikander (“Anna Karenina”), Elizabeth Debicki (“The Great Gatsby”), with Jared Harris (“Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows”), and Hugh Grant as Waverly-is it just me or does seeing Hugh Grant with laugh lines make you feel old?
