Fallout Boy: Saving Rock & Roll Album Launch; Record Store Day

Proud Young Bloods showing the free poster that came with the album purchase.

It was another fun and amazing album launch at Odyssey Megamall and this time it was for Fall Out Boy's new album -Save Rock and Roll. After a four year hiatus Fall Out Boy is back with their latest album and the fans are just loving it.

Fall Out Boy has always been one of my favorite bands, I have always loved their (God) long tongue-in-cheek titles, infectious melodies and their no apologies and no holds bard lyrics. They were a huge part of my college life, with memories of making out to my then boyfriend now husband to 'Dance, Dance' and even using the song title 'Sophomore Slump or Come Back of the Year' as the title of my editor's piece for our school's literary compilation.

With their hiatus I was left without any new songs from musical geniuses and like other fans was left to live on their old music but now that they are back with a new album they will undoubtedly not only 'Save Rock and Roll' but fans who have been waiting patiently to hear new music from them.

The album launch last April 27, 2013 also coincided with Record Store Day which is a global effort from record stores to thank fans by having great sales and in store performances. For this particular album launch, fans got a free poster and a baller for every purchase of Fall Out Boy's album. (See promotional posters below).

So Mr. Emcee we meet again!
Indeed good things come to those who wait and the 'Young Bloods' who have been waiting for new music from Fall Out Boy and also waited to get a physical copy of the album to buy it during the album launch were indeed rewarded with a fun music filled event with games, prizes and performances.
First fan performance- Red Paradox

The first fan performance was from 'Red Paradox' who was made up of the Fall Out Boy PH admin, Inna on guitars and her friend Bernard on vocals and what I can say but they are really, really good I mean dude this guy can sing!

Save Rock and Roooooooooooollllllllllllllll.......

Lucky friends who BOTH won standees!

2nd fan performance - Purple Juice

And the surprises kept on coming with an in store performance from Gracenote. Now I was personally happy that they were performing, I have been a big fan of this band ever since I saw them perform during Paramore Night III

They were in the store to promote their album - First Movement - which I have a copy of by the way - album review here

I personally think it was a good opportunity to promote OPM I mean it's completely normal to be fans of foreign acts as long as we don't forget about our own local talents and Gracenote is definitely deserving of that support. They are a really talented band founded and rooted in music and are not manufactured in any way.

The band also played an ode to Fall Out Boy by covering 'Sugar we're going down'.

Mwaaaaah! Lucky winner gives her standee a kiss, I think Kuya Rey at the back wants one too- (a kiss or a standee?)
Prizes during the event included FOB standees, shirts from Nick Automatic, tuners and a guitar from RJ Guitars but wait there's more.....
The lucky winner of a guitar from RJ Guitars (rrrrrrrright now!)

...a SIGNED print from Fall Out Boy themselves! All hearts in that room had one wish at that moment and it was that it would be their name that would be called so that the print would be theirs but of course there could just be one winner - so (with much resentment - j/k) congratulations to the winner of the signed print! :)

And the best was definitely saved for last since the biggest surprise was a phone patch from Joe! FOB fans left questions on the Facebook Page and Joe was kind enough to answer some of them. The phone patch was played to fans whose hearts literally just stopped.

Aside form answering questions Joe also sent their love to their Filipino fans and said that they can't wait to play music 'in front of their faces' and i bet the fans can't wait either.

It was also Patrick Stump's birthday and so much love and birthday wishes were sent his way from the fans who were gathered.
Young Bloods/ Fall Out Boy PH with their newly purchased albums.

It was a great event as well as a great way to make friends with people whom you share the same passion of music with. Music always brings people together and the Fall Out Boy event was just another way of bringing people together to sing, laugh, make friends and just have fun.
