Upcoming Movies: Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods

Considered as the most popular and successful manga and anime in the world. Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball Z has sold more than 230 million copies worldwide since it's release in 1984-now almost 29 years later and after 17 movies - an 18th movie is bidding it's time (as of this posting -44 days) before it is released in Philippine Cinemas.

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods was released in Japan last March 30, 2013 and it was the first Dragon Ball Z movie to be released in IMAX Digital theaters. (I hope that happens here! Can you imagine watching Kame -Hame Wave in IMAX?!?!?!)

Check out the trailer below!

The movie will be shown in English subtitles here :)

A lot of fans have been clamoring to have Dragon Ball Z released in the Philippines and it comes with no surprise that Pioneer Films - Movie Punch will be releasing this on August 14, 2013 - exclusively for SM Cinemas!

The countdown has begun.

Dragon Ball Z brings a lot of memories to a lot of people, for myself, I remember catching it on RPN 9 with my cousins. Even if I don't have any elder brothers I used to hang out a lot with my guy cousins so Dragon Ball Z was a constant in my childhood and growing up. We would even play the games in earlier consoles (Super Nintendo, 3D0- there were no Playstations back then!)

Do you guys even remember the song from Age of Wonder? (Theme song of Dragon Ball during it's run on RPN 9)

Get that Dragon Ball
Seven Magic Balls
To make a wish you must posses them all
It's the greatest treasure you will ever find
Go ahead enter the world of Adventure

Ha! And I didn't even need to Google the lyrics!

For complete reminiscing you can click here for the video! Warning! Very 80's and 90's - Erhemergehd! I feel so old! :P

Speaking of reminiscing did you guys know that our very own Gino Padilla also has an English version of the ever famous 'Cha La Head Cha La' song? You can click here for a real flash back. The song was featured in a couple of Dragon Ball movie premieres in the Philippines.

While we are reminiscing with the old, I was also pleasantly surprised when I found out that one of the theme songs for the Battle of God's movie is a revival of 'Cha La Head Cha La' which was covered by Japanese rock band FLOW (they also sang Sign and Fighting Dreamers in the Naruto series). You can check out their revival in the video below. If you prefer the original 1989 version by Hironobu Kageyama you can click here

Let's continue to spread the word as we anticipate the return of Goku and the rest of the gang in the big screen. Tell all your friends, Kuyas, Tito's and Daddy's they are probably fans of this almost 30 year old franchise!

Dragon Ball Z: Battle of God's will be shown exclusively in SM Cinemas on August 14 and is distributed by Movie Punch.
