When my sister-Isay turned 18 the whole family had sore eyes. No kidding! It really is a funny situation to be in and of course is a good story to tell but Isay wasn't so happy about it. Celebrating your 18th birdthay is sort of like a big deal for girls in the Philippines since it is the 'debut' of the girl who has now turned into a lady.
Tradition calls for big celebrations with dancing, 18 candles, 18 roses, 18 shots (and whatever 18 you can think of) but since every one of us had sore eyes so whatever plans we had of celebrating my sister's 18th birthday was put on hold.
Isay is a music lover- that is why this headset pendant suits her. |
Her 20th birthday is just around the corner so we decided to have a post-debut photoshoot. Debut photoshoots are also becoming popular now a days.
So off we went to the second floor which is like a block away from where we live. The 'second floor' is actually a small hill with a great view. Some of our prenup photos were shot here.
We were supposed to have the shoot at 8:00am so we can catch the ideal light but we already started at 10AM and it was really hot since the sun was also high in the sky.
Fortunately I learned from previous shooting experiences to bring a fan, an umbrella and of course tissue. I also brought cold water to keep us hydrated.
The sun was really high at the time of the shoot and it was a good thing also since there was sufficient light that the sun was providing for the photos but it can also be a bad thing because sunlight that is too direct can also affect the quality of your photos.
Another reason why it could be a bad thing was because of the heat and discomfort-which was solved by me bringing all those things I mentioned earlier.
Ever since Isay was small one of her favorite characters was Raven- so we also did a mini shoot of her dressed up as her favorite character.

It was a fun, challenging and interesting shoot all in all and just goes to show that it is never late to celebrate anything-even if it takes 2 years.
