Movies: Kevin Hart And Bryan Cranston Team Up In The Box-Office Hit “The Upside”
Get ready for a roaring and endearing time at the movies this January 23 with Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston in an unusual buddy comedy drama “The Upside”. The movie is inspired by the 2011 box office hit French film Les Intouchables.
The unexpected friendship between Phillip Lacasse (Cranston), a Park Avenue billionaire left paralyzed after a paragliding accident, and ex-con Dell Scott (Kevin Hart), in need of a fresh start. Newly paroled and in desperate need of a job, Dell is frustrated by the menial opportunities available to an ex-con. After finding himself at the wrong job interview Dell uses his irreverent charisma to charm Phillip, who, despite protests from his chief-of-staff Yvonne (Nicole Kidman), offers him the home aid position. Despite a rocky start, the two quickly realize how much they can learn from each other's experiences. From worlds apart, Phillip and Dell form an unlikely bond, bridging their differences and gaining invaluable wisdom in the process, giving each man a renewed sense of passion for all of life's possibilities.
"The movie is about people bridging the divisions between us, which to me is an incredibly important theme," explains director Neil Burger. "I wanted the movie to feel real and to be as honest as possible. That goes with the depiction of Phillip and his disability. To be as honest as we could about that experience and ultimately be as respectful as we could about that. And the same with Kevin's character's experience. His background being from the South Bronx and what he's going through in his life. The movie is about respect and it's about compassion. And I think that had to be part of the filmmaking as well. To be as honest and respectful as possible."
Filling out the rest of the stellar cast of “The Upside”are Aja Naomi King who plays Latrice, Dell's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his child, Suzanne Savoy as Charlotte, Phillip's long-time chef, Julianna Margulies, a pen pal Phillip finally gets the courage to meet for a date, Tate Donovan, the wealthy and somewhat obnoxious budding art collector living in Phillip's building, and Genevieve Angelson, as Phillip's deceased wife, Jenny.
“The Upside”opens January 23 in cinemas from Pioneer Films.

MOVIES: NEW “POWER RANGERS” MOVIE OPENS MARCH 22 IN PHIL. CINEMAS
From the team of filmmakers who introduced cool young adult blockbuster franchises such as “The Twilight Saga,” “The Fault in Our Stars” and “The Maze Runner,” producers Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen along with Haim Saban and Brian Casentini bring the latest young adult movie franchise to watch out for – the new “Power Rangers” movie.
The latest “Power Rangers” movie follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.
Directed by Dean Israelite (“Project Almanac”), Saban’s Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, featuring Bill Hader, with Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks. The screenplay is by John Gatins (“Kong: Skull Island,” “Real Steel”) from a story by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (“Dracula Untold”) and Michele Mulroney & Kieran Mulroney.
MOVIES: JAMES FRANCO’S 7 SMART WAYS TO LIVE IN TODAY’S HIGHLY-WIRED LANDSCAPE IN “WHY HIM?”
James Franco stars as Silicon Valley billionaire Laird Mayhew, a self-made young man whose life was spent writing codes and designing apps, leaving him clueless about how to read a room and appropriately modulate his behavior in the uproarious R-rated family comedy “Why Him?”
Laird’s social skills are completely acceptable to his girlfriend Stephanie (Zoey Deutch) and to the millennial circle he belongs, but does not sit well with Stephanie’s dad, Ned (Bryan Cranston). Ned, a small-town father, owner of a struggling mid-sized printing business in Michigan, is complete opposites with Laird who is making billions in the digital realm.
During Ned’s 55th birthday party, Stephanie joins the event via Skype to send well wishes to her dad from her Stanford dorm room. The Flemings and their party guests are surprised by an unexpected (and naked) introduction to her new boyfriend Laird…or at least a part of him. Distraught over the fact that Stephanie has uncharacteristically been hiding something from him, Ned begrudgingly agrees to travel with the family to spend the holidays in California to meet his daughter's first serious boyfriend. Ned, along with his wife Barb (Megan Mullally) and son Scotty (Griffin Gluck) experience what it’s like to live in the eco-friendly home of a Silicon Valley billionaire:
1. Laird’s sprawling hipster estate in Palo Alto is as minimalist as it can get for more space to move around.
2. Meals served are from lawn-to-table. His house is surrounded with hectares of lawns where he keeps an array of animals, trees and vegetables.
3. The expansive “smart house” is completely paperless, bathrooms included.

Movies: CLASH OF THE IN-LAWS IN RED-BAND TRAILER REVEAL OF “WHY HIM?”
20th Century Fox’s second red-band trailer of “Why Him?” starring James Franco and Bryan Cranston reveals more of an overprotective father and a well-meaning but foulmouthed boyfriend who find themselves at wit’s end trying to prove something to each other.
Following a sentimental moment before visiting her college daughter, Stephanie (Zoey Deutch), Ned (Cranston) along with his wife Barb (Megan Mullally) and Scotty (Griffin Gluck) felt awfully surprised upon meeting his daughter’s boyfriend, internet billionaire Laird Mayhew (Franco). After an awkward initial meeting with the shirtless Laird, the family soon warms up to Laird but not Ned. The tension grew at its most intense when Laird revealed to Ned that he’s about to pop the question to Stephanie. Determined that he’s not good enough for his daughter, Ned goes on an all-out war with Laird to stop him from asking his daughter to marry him.
"Why Him?” is an original story by director John Hamburg along with Jonah Hill and Ian Helfer, produced by a team of guaranteed blockbuster filmmakers consisting of Shawn Levy, Ben Stiller and Dan Levine.
