A triad of multi-talented actors headed by James Franco with co-stars Francesca Eastwood and Taryn Manning find themselves trapped in “The Vault - an action-packed supernatural heist thriller, filled with tension, frights, and unspeakable horror.
Eastwood and Manning take on the role of the Dillon sisters who don’t necessarily like each other, but they’ll always look out for each other. Leah (Eastwood), ex-military, has just picked up her career criminal sister, Vee (Manning), from prison, when they learn that their troubled older brother, Michael, has burned down a warehouse owned by a notorious gangster. The siblings find themselves on the hook for an outrageous sum of money and have only two weeks to get it or Michael will die. So with nowhere to turn, they decide to rob the town’s biggest bank.
The heist starts off smoothly, but mayhem ensues when the defiant bank manager resists helping them and one of the tellers tries to escape. The Dillons now have an unconscious bank manager and a woman fighting for her life. Without the manager’s help, they think they’re screwed… Until one of the hostages volunteers information. He’s Ed Maas (Franco), assistant bank manager, and he’ll put the brothers back on track in return for 5% of their take. With time ticking, Leah takes Maas up on his offer and Maas proves extraordinarily helpful – overriding security systems and giving them any information they ask for. Maas even tells the siblings that they’re wasting their time drilling into the vault upstairs; there’s an old vault downstairs without high tech security that’s still holding that morning’s cash delivery.

Movies: Mind-Bending And Thrilling Supernatural Movie “The Vault” Opens Sept. 6
An interesting fusion of action and the supernatural comes alive in “The Vault” where the audience will be taken into a thrilling hell ride -hardcore, horrifying, and heartbreaking – driven by a bank robbery, vengeful ghosts and three siblings who must learn to trust each other or die.
Starring multi-faceted James Franco along with Clint’s daughter, fast-rising star Francesca Eastwood and Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black” star Taryn Manning, “The Vault” is set in modern day – inside a timeworn bank in a small, forgotten, working-class city. It could be any city. The building is a relic from another time – a time of opulence that allowed for marble floors and lofted ceilings – like a cathedral designed for the worship of wealth and yet haunted by the victims of that same materialism. At its heart, the movie is a loyalty play. Three estranged siblings are caught in a desperate situation that forces the resolution of life-long conflicts. This day will make or break them. It’s love and a family bond versus fear and betrayal, forgiveness versus revenge, trust versus suspicion and this bank is the nightmarish battleground.
“The Vault” demanded vulnerable, truthful performances. This is a nonstop thrill ride. It opens with a gritty, heart-pounding bank heist. And as the siblings head for the underground vault, the story quickly ramps to a fast-paced, psychotic trip into darkness. It’s also a real pressure cooker, as most of the movie is tightly contained inside the Century Trust Bank itself and especially the dark, terrifying, labyrinthine basement below. The stakes couldn’t be higher. That containment – that claustrophobia – is key to a terrifying experience and will drive almost ever creative decision. When the violence does it, it will not be stylised or celebratory, it will be realistic and brutal. It will hurt,” shares director Dan Bush.
“The Vault” goes beyond the typical bank heist story and gives audiences a run for their lives. Director Dan Bush pegs it as “The Town” meets “The Grudge”.
The film co-stars Q’orianka Kilncher (Sky, Hostiles), Clifton Collins Jr. (Pacific Rim), and Michael Milford (Deserted, Adolescence).
“The Vault is set to hit cinemas nationwide on September 6 and is distributed by Axinite Digicinema.

Movies: Michael Fassbender Aboard Perilous Journey In “Alien: Covenant”
Ridley Scott’s original “Alien” remains a standard bearer for the horror genre that morphed into a blockbuster iconic franchise among horror and sci-fi fans. In Scott’s latest “Alien: Covenant” to hit Philippine cinemas this May 10, the Oscar®-nominated filmmaker sought to recapture the same foreboding atmosphere of constant danger and dread while also offering new insights that would add richness and depth to the larger Alien mythology.
The film opens with a peaceful mission designed to take humanity beyond the confines of Earth into a settlement among the stars. On the manifest of the spaceship Covenant are couples who will populate the planet Origae-6, along with dozens of embryos to help establish the new colony. Charged with their protection is the ship’s crew: Captain Jacob (James Franco) and his wife, Daniels, head of terraforming operations (Katherine Waterston); second-in-command Christopher Oram (Billy Crudup) and his biologist wife Karine (Carmen Ejogo); boisterous pilots Tennessee (Danny McBride) and Faris (Amy Seimetz); head of security Sergeant Lope (Demián Bichir) and his second-in-command and husband Sergeant Hallett (Nathaniel Dean). With them is one non-human, Walter (Michael Fassbender), the Covenant’s loyal synthetic, keeping watch as the passengers remain locked away in cryosleep until they reach their destination.
All is quiet aboard the spaceship Covenant. The crew and the rest of the 2,000 souls aboard the pioneering vessel are deep in hyper-sleep, leaving the synthetic Walter to walk the corridors alone. The ship is en route to the remote planet Origae-6, where, on the far side of the galaxy, the settlers hope to establish a new outpost for humanity. The tranquility is shattered when a nearby stellar ignition shreds Covenant’s energy-collection sails, resulting in dozens of casualties and throwing the mission off course.

Movies: Latest Colonization Mission Lands In Hostile Terrain In Ridley Scott's “Alien: Covenant”
The largest colonization mission takes off in Ridley Scott’s latest sci-fi horror-thriller “Alien: Covenant” starring Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, James Franco, Billy Crudup, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez and Danny McBride.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in “Alien” with “Alien: Covenant”, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with “Prometheus” and connects directly to Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
In recent interviews, Ridley Scott revealed that in “Alien: Covenant”, he explored into the origins of the xenomorphs, and that the movie touches on mortality, immortality and the higher power who created humans and the universe. “We did Prometheus – that heaved it off the ground, and Covenant is a follow-through to Prometheus. We now know who created this, and why, and the next one’s a joining up of the storyline,” says Scott.

MOVIES: JAMES FRANCO’S 7 SMART WAYS TO LIVE IN TODAY’S HIGHLY-WIRED LANDSCAPE IN “WHY HIM?”
James Franco stars as Silicon Valley billionaire Laird Mayhew, a self-made young man whose life was spent writing codes and designing apps, leaving him clueless about how to read a room and appropriately modulate his behavior in the uproarious R-rated family comedy “Why Him?”
Laird’s social skills are completely acceptable to his girlfriend Stephanie (Zoey Deutch) and to the millennial circle he belongs, but does not sit well with Stephanie’s dad, Ned (Bryan Cranston). Ned, a small-town father, owner of a struggling mid-sized printing business in Michigan, is complete opposites with Laird who is making billions in the digital realm.
During Ned’s 55th birthday party, Stephanie joins the event via Skype to send well wishes to her dad from her Stanford dorm room. The Flemings and their party guests are surprised by an unexpected (and naked) introduction to her new boyfriend Laird…or at least a part of him. Distraught over the fact that Stephanie has uncharacteristically been hiding something from him, Ned begrudgingly agrees to travel with the family to spend the holidays in California to meet his daughter's first serious boyfriend. Ned, along with his wife Barb (Megan Mullally) and son Scotty (Griffin Gluck) experience what it’s like to live in the eco-friendly home of a Silicon Valley billionaire:
1. Laird’s sprawling hipster estate in Palo Alto is as minimalist as it can get for more space to move around.
2. Meals served are from lawn-to-table. His house is surrounded with hectares of lawns where he keeps an array of animals, trees and vegetables.
3. The expansive “smart house” is completely paperless, bathrooms included.
