Movies: “Justice League” Holds Nationwide Midnight Sneaks Nov. 16 At 12:01 AM

MANILA, Nov. 12, 2017 – Filipino fans will get the chance to watch DC Super Heroes unite earlier than expected as Warner Bros. Philippines has announced that Justice League will have midnight sneaks in selected cinemas nationwide on Thursday, November 16 at 12:01 AM.

Local audiences are encouraged to grab this opportunity to be among the first in the world to witness the eagerly anticipated movie event. Tickets to the midnight screening will be at regular admission prices.

Manila, July 03, 2017 – It’s official: An Amazonian princess has bested both the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight at the Philippine box office.

As of last Saturday, July 1, the P520.5-million cumulative box-office gross of Wonder Woman has overtaken the lifetime gross of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to become the biggest Warner Bros. Movie of All-Time. This was announced today by Francis Soliven, General Manager of Warner Bros. Philippines.

“`Wonder Woman' has shown tremendous staying power and repeat business at the local box-office, and we could not be prouder of the film,” says Soliven in making the announcement. “The story of Diana, as played by the incomparable Gal Gadot, has resonated across all demographics and continues to inspire moviegoers. MANILA, June 5, 2017 – One of the best-reviewed and most-anticipated Super Hero movies of all time, director Patty Jenkins’s epic action adventure “Wonder Woman” soared to the top of the Philippine box office on its opening weekend, earning a record-shattering P233-M, and still climbing.

The Warner Bros. Pictures release, which stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman and Chris Pine as her ally Steve Trevor, marks the global icon’s first-ever solo feature film and the first female-led big screen adventure of the modern superhero era. The announcement was made today by Francis Soliven, General Manager of Warner Bros. Philippines.

The massive weekend figures have given “Wonder Woman” the country's biggest female superhero movie opening of all time, and the biggest opening for a foreign movie directed by a woman (outgrossing “Fifty Shades of Grey” at P94.5-M).

Other notable records achieved were the second biggest opening weekend for the year (surpassing “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” at P159-M); fourth biggest June opening weekend all-time (ahead of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” at P210-M) and second biggest opening weekend ever for a Warner Bros. (overtaking “Batman v Superman: Dawn Justice at P162-M for a two-day weekend).

“Wonder Woman” arrived in PH cinemas on a wave of universally enthusiastic reviews and unprecedented want-to-see scores. Soliven said, “Patty Jenkins and her talented cast and crew have delivered the Wonder Woman adventure that new and longtime fans have been waiting for, and we’re glad to see the film connect in such a big way with moviegoers across the Philippines.”

Globally, “Wonder Woman” is the weekend’s greatest box office draw, taking in $223 million worldwide, and counting.

The impressive global total makes “Wonder Woman” the largest female-lead superhero movie opening of all time, the biggest opening in June for a superhero movie, and the biggest opening in June for a Warner Bros. film. With a Certified Fresh rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is also one of the best-reviewed superhero films ever, and its CinemaScore of A shows audiences agree.

In the US, the film has grossed $100.5 million and has the highest opening weekend box office of all time for a female director.

Movie Review: Wonder Woman

There is a lot to be said about Patty Jenkin's "Wonder Woman", the critics love it, fans love it, the film's star, Gal Gadot, who has become a household name is in every GIF on the internet (and she looks good in each and every one of them). Well, this review may be a bit late (give the pregnant lady some slack) but I did give the film glowing mini reviews because I loved the movie so much. 

Yes, there I was crying like a baby while watching the film, which isn't exactly headline news since "the crying critic" seems to be a fitting name for me, and no, it wasn't the hormones either, I was just so moved by how pure the film was. How, its look into human nature, grounds the film, despite its godly origins. 

So, in a year where super hero movies come out often, what makes "Wonder Woman" different? Well, actually a lot of things and I'm not just talking the film, being the first one to be directed by a female director or the fact that it is the first female led superhero film.  I'm talking about how it is an honest to goodness super hero movie, one that need not be pretentious or hide behind gimmicks. 

Part mythology and part world history, "Wonder Woman" looks into what it means to step up to the role and the duty that was given to you. To be the symbol of hope and justice in a time of war and despair. To do something and be someone when everyone else tells you that you can't and you shouldn't. 

Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), is an Amazonian princess who leaves her home of Themyscira (an island of Amazon warriors) to fight alongside men during World War I, in the hopes of putting to end the ultimate evil. She meets Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) whose human role in the film, gives Diana that much needed look into the good side of men, that despite all of the unspeakable evils that humans do (and sadly continue to do) there are still those, like Steve who are all around good guys and I think that was a much needed respite in the film. The chemistry between the two actors was palpable on screen, they were naturally funny, when the scene called for it, without looking that they were trying too hard. 

I loved that we see the growth of Diana's character in the movie, I love that we see her grow from a naive Amazonian princess, who thinks that destroying the "bad guy" will bring everything back to love and peace, to a real super hero, one that the world needed at that time. 

Everyone is raving about that "no man's land" scene and I must say that it does get all of the raves and praises that it deserves, it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it and will surely go down in pop culture history, fans will be talking about it for years to come. 

I think what makes Wonder Woman successful to the every day movie goer as well, is that the plot is clear and straight, you go through this journey with Diana and you also grow with her. You understand her responsibility, the weight of what this entails, you understand her heartaches and her sadness and that's something that viewers haven't experienced in a long time. 

10/10 (the first perfect score this year). "Wonder Woman" is not just a film to see, it is an experience you should not miss. Now Showing.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior.   Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat.  Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Patty Jenkins directs the film from a screenplay by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns & Patty Jenkins, story by Zack Snyder & Allan Heinberg, based on characters from DC Entertainment. Wonder Woman was created by William Moulton Marston.

The film is produced by Charles Roven, Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder and Richard Suckle, with Rebecca Roven, Stephen Jones, Wesley Coller and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with RatPac-Dune Entertainment, an Atlas Entertainment/Cruel and Unusual production, “Wonder Woman.” The film will be distributed in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Movie News: “WONDER WOMAN” FIRST TRAILER DEALS WITH CHARACTER’S FASCINATING ORIGIN

“Wonder Woman” hits movie theaters around the world June 2017 when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Watch the film’s first trailer athttps://youtu.be/yFp0soXcMdM which was unveiled during the Comic-Con panel Saturday.

“Wonder Woman” marks the character’s first time headlining a feature.

Set to open in the Philippines in June 2017, “Wonder Woman” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

The Funko Pops are a nice touch don't you think? I want Wonder Woman!
