Paramore night IV

'Strike while the iron is hot' is very apt for this occasion as the love for Paramore continues to overflow and with a new album and a brand new sound at that, there is no other thing to do than celebrate than with yet again another Paramore Night- this one succeeding the last, thus aptly called Paramore Night 4.

Since we had a hard time parking the last Paramore Night (we had to make a U-Turn-twice!) we really left early and Paul was even praying before leaving 'sana makakuha kami ng parking...sana makakuha kami ng parking...'

Best parking spot ever! :D

And our early departure really paid off since we were able to get the sweetest parking possible and we were early! We got at Route 196 before 9:30 and also before the first band-which is great since we missed most of the bands during Paramore Night 3

Abstract HDR. Boards all over-Check out the skateboards on the wall (and the surfboard!)

We're used to seeing different time zones but this is just one- PINOY TIME!

Paul is actually a big fan of the interior design of Route 196 which is along Katipunan, there a lot of references to skateboards, aside from the many that are lined up on the walls, there is also the ingenious door knobs made of trucks (skateboard wheels) Paul's admiration is no surprise since he used to skate and still keeps his skateboard under our bed. So Paul went along and took some interior shots of Route 196 before the bands started to perform.

One thing that I really like about Paramore Night is that it is a venue for amateur bands to perform and just experience the joy of performing live in front of a great audience. Paul just loves the crowd because they are energetic, intense fun, supportive (if you forget the lyrics they will help you out!) and the crowd is very 'makulit'.

There is something magical about amateur bands sharing the stage with professional bands that they admire. It's like being an ordinary student on summer vacation or being any other girl or guy but then getting the chance to be a 'rock star' even for just 20-30 minutes and get to cover Paramore at that!

First Band of the night - Senyora
First band of the night was Senyora - you can visit and like their Facebook page by clicking on this link. Senyora has been performing in other bands and events as well. You can check out videos of their covers in their Facebook page as well.

Sugar Rush
Second Band of the night was Sugar Rush. The members of Sugar Rush all met in church and this was their first ever gig- here's to hoping that they have more!

Stratosdays
The third band- Stratosdays was founded on June 6, 2012 and also performed during Paramore Night 3 they have also been performing in a number of different gigs and bars. They were gutsy enough to do a cover of Paramore's latest single 'Still into you' and what can I say - they really delivered!

Watching their vocalist Sarah Sayson @Sarahmorelive from the audience reminded me of a younger Hayley Williams (All We Know is Falling days) she is definitely talented and the band has a lot of potential. Click here to check out Stratosdays on Facebook!

The show must go on! Undecided/YUKO
Of course like all rock stars -a little drama and a lot of challenges are always in tow. This is what happened to the band Undecided when their original bassist was not available at the last minute- enter emergency replacement bassist and a lot of nervous jitters but like everything the show must go on - which is exactly what they did! Kudos to a great performance and sticking through with your commitment- it really shows a lot of character :)

Southern Lights
Sometimes steering away from the original plan can be a good thing - which is what happened to the band - Southern Lights. Members of their full set band were not available and instead of backing out they just decided to have an acoustic set. Which I think is a great idea! Paramore Night is not just about the heavy guitar riffs and the loud pounding on the drums - it is about the music and having a stripped down acoustic set was a good way to showcase raw talent. I was really impressed with this group since they were brave enough to do a mash up of Daydreaming and Where the lines overlap - Daydreaming of course is a song from Paramore's new self-titled album. It really shows their talent and ingenuity.

Speaking of which - Southern Lights will be performing during Odyssey's Parathrilla 2013- the Paramore Album buyout on Saturday at Odyssey in Megamall at 4:30PM. You can check out more details here and if they were only half force during Paramore Night IV I can guarantee a great performance! :)

Southern Lights was formed in October 2009 and also performed during Paramore Night 3 and Girl Power Night. You can check them out and like their Facebook page here
Behind Those City Lights
Aside from Paramore covers, Behind those city lights also treated the crowd to one of their original songs.

Gracenote returned to the stage and I just loved the added effects that they had on their songs. The added synthesizers on 'Stop! Stop!' which is my favorite track out their album 'First Movement' by the way! (Check out my album review here!) was a great surprise that just shows their versatility and continuing evolution as a group. They also gave a redeemed performance of Paramore's 'Now' and wowed the crowd with their cover of 'Still Into You'.

It is in my honest and unbiased opinion that Gracenote is ready to have their own concert - I've seen them perform twice. They are (super) talented, are just amazing on stage, have an energy that is so real-it is palpable. They change up and experiment with new instruments such as cow bells (Yes! A cow bell and Eunice was hammering it like crazy!). Take note that these changes and experiments during live performances gives the audience something new instead of the same sound. It is a big shame and a big injustice that this talented group does not have a concert yet while others who are seemingly only blessed with 'good looks' get to have shows.

Raw Power - from Eunice of Gracenote

All smiles. Did you know that Gracenotes' Chen Pangan is the daughter of Pinoy Rock Legend - Jett Pangan of the Dawn?!- she is in every right a true born Pinoy Rock Princess- that's Pinoy Rock Royalty right there and her heritage does not come as a surprise as her talent exudes from her quiet nature.

Eunice must have been born with a music instrument as an extra appendage as she jumped from the keyboards, the violin and even the drums! This is one very talented lady!

When I went over to have members of Gracenote sign the prints that we had, I got to talk to Eunice and I was so happy (ecstatic even) that she remembered us. 'Kayo ba ung...P---' she asked 'PCheng Photography! Kami un!'I was just too happy that she remembered us, I went on to say that I was the one who made an album review for 'First Movement' to which Eunice said 'binasa ko un' (I was in absolute fangirl moment-she remembers us! She read my album review! gaaaaaahhh!)

When you talk to her she has an almost child-like persona that is so endearing you just want to hug her tight. Mind you this child-like persona completely disappears when she performs live on stage.

Having the prints of photos from Paramore Night 3 signed!

Speaking of Gracenote - Pcheng Photography will be having a special give away- we will be giving away  SIGNED Gracenote and Circa prints! just watch out for more details!

And in the tradition of 'The show must go on' Circa went on stage minus their vocalist Em and Kuya Monty stepped up as well. Circa boys + Kuya Monty covered Paramore songs and asked people from the audience to sing, even grabbing Eunice back on stage. It was all fun-which is what Paramore Night is all about anyway. :)

Kuya Monty had a surprise for everyone when he announced that Paramore Night V was going to be on May 11! But wait there's more as Kuya Monty teased the crowd to a surprise for Paramore Night V- let's just say that things are getting BIGGER and BETTER! ;)

Everyone can relate to music. Even people from different parts of the world, speaking different languages and coming from different cultures can feel the same way about a song and they can feel the same way about a band.

This is how we are in the Parafamily. We share our love for Paramore in our own unique ways and Paramore Night is a great way to culminate that. Thank you to Kuya Monty, Miss Bhel and to Mismo Productions for providing these venues where fans and friends can get together and share our love for Paramore and with a new album out- I can only see bright things and more Paramore Nights.

We didn't want to clutter the blog post with too many photos- so Yes! There are MORE, MORE, MORE photos of Paramore Night IV on our Facebook page. Click here
